Everything you need to know about Cotypist plans.
Daily writing volume. Free includes 100 completed words a day; beyond that, suggestions fade out gradually rather than stopping abruptly, so you taper off instead of getting cut off. The counter resets each day, and only words you actually accept with Tab are counted — suggestions you ignore are free. Plus and Pro are unlimited.
Macs covered. Plus covers one Mac. Pro covers up to three Macs on the same subscription — all belonging to you. A subscription is for one person and isn't shared between people; if more than one person wants Cotypist, each needs their own.
Included models. Free and Plus share the same curated set: the light models — Gemma 4 E2B, Qwen 3 1.7B, and Gemma 3 1B — plus three mid-size models, Gemma 4 E4B, Qwen 3 4B, and Gemma 3 4B, for sharper suggestions on Macs that can run them. E2B in particular already produces very good completions on any supported Mac. Pro adds the largest models in the catalog: Gemma 4 26B A4B, Qwen 3 30B-A3B, and Qwen 3 8B. Larger isn't automatically better, though: heavier models take longer per word, and if a model can't keep up with your typing, the overall experience gets worse rather than sharper. Cotypist automatically recommends a model that suits your Mac — pick the largest one it runs smoothly, not the largest your tier unlocks.
Personalization strength. Cotypist learns your writing style as you go. The Personalize Word Choice slider in Settings has six stops; only the endpoints are labeled (Off on the left, Max on the right). Free can move the slider up to the 2nd tick from the left, a gentle nudge toward your voice. Plus can move it up to the 4th tick, Cotypist's default level. Pro can move it all the way to the 6th tick (Max).
Custom writing instructions. Free has none. Plus unlocks the global instructions field, where you describe your role, audience, and tone once and Cotypist factors that into every suggestion. Pro adds per-app overrides on top — a tighter voice for Slack, a more careful one for Mail, a code-aware one for your editor.
Completion length. Plus and Pro let you choose how many words Cotypist suggests at once. Free is locked to the default short length.
Autocorrect. Free includes a typo indicator: when Cotypist suspects you've just made a typo, it holds back the next suggestion so it doesn't build on the mistake. Plus and Pro add full autocorrect, suggesting the fix inline the same way they suggest any other completion.
Clipboard awareness. Pro only. Cotypist can factor in what you just copied, which helps when you're writing a reply about something on your clipboard.
Cotypist Labs. Pro only. New experimental features land in Labs first. Mid-line completion — finishing a sentence in the middle, not just at the end — is the first feature there.
The same on every tier: Inline suggestions in every Mac app, fully on-device (no cloud, no logging, works offline), Tab to accept the whole suggestion or just the next word, emoji shortcuts, multi-language coverage, and screen-aware context so suggestions match the email thread, document, or chat you're in. Every new install also starts with a 30-day Pro trial, so you can try the upgrades for yourself before deciding.
Want to feel what Free or Plus is like before deciding? During the Pro trial (or on a paid plan), you can simulate either tier by changing a few settings, then use Cotypist normally for a few days.
To simulate Free (the model you use isn't a Free/Plus difference, so leave it on whatever Cotypist recommends for your Mac):
To simulate Plus (Plus and Free share the same models, so the difference is the controls below, not the model):
After a few days, open Settings → Statistics and check how many completions you actually accept per day. That number tells you whether Free's 100 words a day would feel tight, and whether Plus's unlimited completions and extra controls are worth it for your writing.
Buying as a business? Click Add VAT number in the order summary (see screenshot below) and enter your company's VAT ID. Once Paddle validates it against the VIES database, the VAT line drops to zero under the EU reverse-charge mechanism, and your VAT ID and company name appear on the invoice Paddle emails you after purchase.
Every new install includes a 30-day Pro trial — the full Pro feature set, no credit card required. After the trial, you drop into Free or pick a plan. On mobile? We'll send you a link to download Cotypist on your Mac.
